Groups we collaborate with and support around the world

INDONESIA

Gili Eco Trust

Gili Eco Trust is a local non-governmental organisation established in 2000 to protect coral reefs from destructive fishing around the three Gili Islands off Lombok, Indonesia.

The trust has extended its activities to many environmental projects, including regenerating coral reefs and fish abundance, weekly beach cleanups, providing education in local and international schools, organizing recycling and garbage collection schemes, university research and studies, setting up sustainable eco tourism using green energy, and providing animal care and free welfare clinics.

We have worked with this incredible conservation trust for the last 6 years, including 3 visits with TY students. Also when we have any small amount of funding we have supported their projects.

Debris Free Friday

Debris Free Friday is a community-driven movement, founded in 2013 and committed to protecting and preserving the beaches of Gili Trawangan. Every Friday, we unite divers, tourists, local businesses, and residents to remove plastic waste, reduce environmental impact, and promote sustainable habits. Through collective action, education, and awareness, we aim to inspire a new generation of environmental stewards while keeping our island clean, vibrant, and debris-free.

Flossie and The Beach Cleaners last year sponsored 6 of the cleanups. We feel passionate about this NGO due to the fact they are so similar to the charity fighting an endless tide of pollution.

Equator Bumi Lestari Foundation

The Equator Group (Equator ID) is an Indonesian organization run by Julius Robinson, the NGO works in the field of social and environmental sustainability, supporting development projects across the country. Groups include Bening Sanguling as well as  the military who work tirelessly to keep the Citarum River clean, educate the locals about polluting the river, as well as planting a plant called Vetiver a deep, fast-growing root system which acts as a biological scavenger, absorbing heavy metals, nitrogen, phosphorus, and other pollutants while managing sewage and reducing wastewater contamination. This NGO supports many communities as well supporting projects that focus on the problem of climate change and the damage it is doing to Indonesia

Flossie and The Beach Cleaners has had the honour of working with Julius Robinson for the last 5 years and been guided by him on trips to Java. The charity has funded 3 boats to the foundation to help clean the river, these boats are also used to rescue families that live in the slums during the flood season.

Chili Community House

The Chili Community in Indonesia is a grassroots, non-profit community initiative that focuses on supporting children and families through free education and social activities. Based in areas such as Lombok, the community center provides a safe and welcoming space where children can learn, play, and develop important life skills without any cost. It is built “by the community for the community,” emphasizing local participation and volunteer support to improve the quality of life for underserved groups. Programs typically include informal education, creative activities, and daily engagement that help children gain confidence and access opportunities they might not otherwise have. By combining education with community care, the Chili Community aims to empower young people and strengthen social connections at the local level.

This amazing NGO run by a Malaysian lady called Ain has set up 2 schools for children on Gili Trawangan and Lombok. The children that go to these schools would ordinarily not be given any education and the parents wouldn’t have gone to school so they feel happy for their children not to go. Ain quite often pays the parents in oil and rice to make sure they bring the children to school.

Flossie and The Beach Cleaners funded the first playground to exist on the island that lives within the school grounds, the charity has also supplied them with 6 months of art supplies, bought an overhead projector and funded a new roof for the school in Lombok.

When out in Indonesia students spend the mornings working with the children in the school  on the Island.

Bening Sanguling

The Bening Saguling Foundation is an. NGO in Indonesia that focuses on environmental conservation and community empowerment, particularly around the Citarum River in West Java. The organization works to address serious issues such as river pollution, waste management, and poverty among communities living along the riverbanks. Through programs like waste collection, recycling initiatives, environmental education, and community-based economic projects, the foundation encourages local people to actively participate in protecting their environment while improving their livelihoods. By combining environmental action with social development, Bening Saguling aims to create sustainable change and raise awareness about the importance of caring for natural resources.

The charity has visited this conservation trust a handful of times with students, and we have also funded 3 boats to clean the Citarum River. This NGO is run by an extraordinary husband and wife team.

INDIA

Killa Pachu Cleanup Campaign

The Killa Pacha Cleanup Campaign is an environmental initiative in India dedicated to promoting cleanliness, sustainability, and community responsibility. Inspired by the meaning of “Killa Pacha,” often associated with the natural world and harmony with the earth, the campaign brings together volunteers to clean public spaces such as beaches, parks, and neighborhoods. It aims not only to remove waste but also to raise awareness about environmental issues like pollution and improper waste disposal. Through community participation, education, and advocacy, the campaign encourages individuals to adopt eco-friendly habits and take an active role in protecting their surroundings. By fostering a sense of shared responsibility, the Killa Pacha Cleanup Campaign contributes to building cleaner environments and more environmentally conscious communities.

The charity collaborates with this amazing group by sending ‘Flossie’ merchandise for the beach cleaners as well as highlighting their incredible work on our social media. The group is run by full time professionals who spend their weekends encouraging the community and cleaning a tonne of pollution on each cleanup from their local beaches in Mumbai.

Water Warriors Panjab

Water Warriors Punjab is a community-led environmental initiative in India that focuses on conserving water resources and restoring ecological balance. The group works primarily in rural areas, where water scarcity is a major issue, by building check dams, restoring ponds, and improving rainwater harvesting systems. Through volunteer efforts and community participation, Water Warriors aim to recharge groundwater levels and ensure sustainable access to water for farming and daily use. In addition to practical solutions, they also raise awareness about water conservation and encourage people to adopt responsible water usage habits. By combining local knowledge with collective action, Water Warriors Punjab plays an important role in addressing water shortages and promoting environmental sustainability in the region as well as  (like us) educating children about the importance of cleaning the beaches.

We also collaborate with this incredible community led group by sending ‘Flossie’ merchandise for the children as well as highlighting their work on our social media. We hope to help them get recognition from their government.

TANZANIA

Ruffo TZ

Raising Up Friendship Foundation (RUFFO) integrates climate change action with its core vision of child protection by promoting safe, clean, and sustainable environments for children to grow and thrive. Through community driven initiatives of beach clean ups, RUFFO engages young people, parents, and local leaders in reducing environmental hazards like plastic pollution that threaten both marine life and children’s health. These activities are also used as platforms to educate communities on the link between environmental degradation, climate change, and risks to children’s safety and well being. By fostering environmental responsibility and positive community involvement, RUFFO strengthens protective systems around children while empowering them to become active agents in safeguarding their environment and future.

We are very proud to be in collaboration with Ruffo TZ, their morals and vision align directly with Flossie and The Beach Cleaners. Again we love to highlight their incredible work on social media as well as send merchandise for the children.
